Anne Collins, Michael's second wife, is a former Labour Party politician from New Zealand who was previously married to Michael's first wife. In 1989, they exchanged wedding vows. Anne was born on the 20th of July 1951 in Napier, New Zealand, and has been living there ever since.

Napier Girls High School served as her first stop before enrolling at Massey University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Education degree in 1982.
