A man was detained early Saturday morning on Pittsburgh's South Side after hitting an officer in the face.
According to officials, officers were summoned to a fight in the 1700 block of East Carson Street at 1 a.m. When his vehicle was towed, Ithiel Horton, 21, allegedly became upset with the tow truck driver.
The tow truck's driver dialled 911. Horton allegedly punched a responding officer in the face before fleeing, according to a public safety update. A wound on the officer's mouth was causing him to bleed.
On Pitt's website, Horton is listed as a redshirt junior guard. Court documents confirmed his date of birth.
Pittsburgh's Action News 4 has reached out to Pitt for comment. We still haven't gotten a response.
Accusations against Horton include aggravated assault, resisting arrest, disruptive behaviour, and public intoxication.
Michelle Pilyugin, 19, was also arrested for disruptive conduct and other misdemeanours.
