Thomas was born in Kilmarnock, Scotland, on August 12, 1963, and later moved to Birstall, West Yorkshire. He stayed there till he assassinated Jo Cox. He will be 57 years old in 2021.

The assailant had been a student at a local college in Birstall. According to the news, he had also attended an adult treatment centre after suffering from mental health concerns.

Thomas Mair, the assassin of Jo Cox, is currently imprisoned in Frankland. Durhan, England is the location of the prison.

In addition, he has been there for over four years. Mair has been imprisoned in a single cell with high-level security in County Durham. Because of the nature of his offences, he has been sentenced to life in prison.

Indeed, a judge at the Old Bailey said Mair's crime was so serious that he could only be released by the Secretary of State.

Mair is thought to be one of the 67 people who have been sentenced to life in jail.

Thomas assassinated Jo Cox, a Labor MP, in November of 2016. Jo was assaulted on her way to a constituency meeting on Market Street in Birstall at around 1 p.m. on June 16, 2016.

Jo was shot and stabbed 15 times before succumbing to her injuries. She was stabbed in the heart, lungs, stomach, and liver with a knife before being shot three times in the hands with a sawn-off gun while attempting to shield her head.

Jo's warning to her two assistants to keep back and let Thomas hurt her but not them was incredibly brave.

Thomas Mair's Religion and Family


Thomas Mair's family and religious beliefs have remained a mystery until now.

However, we now know that he was nurtured by Helen Mair, his maternal grandmother.

Sadly, after his grandmother died in 1996, Thomas was left alone in their former residence in Birstall, which was near to the shooting location.

Mair also has a half-brother, Duane St Louis, and a brother, Scott Mair, who are both unemployed gardeners.
