In June 2020, hundreds of survivors, represented by John Doe, filed a federal lawsuit against the University of Michigan for its participation in Robert's torture. Roughly 12 hundred rape allegations were received by the institution, all of which were tied to their previous sports doctor. Between 1966 and 2003, the claimed employee worked for the University Health Service and the University of Michigan Athletic Department. He passed away five years later.
According to an internal memo dated August 13, 1979, Robert will be demoted from his director post to that of Clinical Instructor, with a lower remuneration. The date of implementation was the 14th of January 1980. Then, UM's administrator, Thomas Easthope, sacked him as a result of the sexual misconduct allegations against him. Despite this, he was appointed as the sports team physician.
In April 2019, the University of Michigan Police Department ended their investigation and turned over extensive evidence of abuse to the Washtenaw County Prosecutor's Office. Then, in 2020, the legal firm of Steptoe & Johnson was brought in to undertake an independent investigation into the claims.
And now, after over two years, the final settlement has been reached.

They had three children together: Eric, Jill, and Kurt, as well as several grandkids, including Charles Edward Anderson and Anna Anderson, who died in infancy.
Robert was 80 years old at the time of his death. He was born on February 20, 1948, in L'Anse, Michigan, and died on November 27, 2008, in L'Anse, Michigan, as a result of pulmonary fibrosis. In 2006, he was given the news that he had terminal cancer.
Terri Anderson, his former daughter-in-law, who was married to Kurt from 1995 to 2008, said that her former father-in-law may have had a hand in her son Charles' 2016 death, which she believes was orchestrated by Kurt. Her daughter, on the other hand, categorically refuted her claims.
