Ricky Roberts was a homicide victim. He died on February 16, 2014, as a result of the gunshot wounds he had received. Cheryl Lucero, Roberts' offender, was also sentenced to life in prison.
Roberts was brutally murdered by Lucero. One of Lucero's two bullets went straight through Robert's chest, while the other grazed his shoulder. Furthermore, she had killed him with a 9 mm handgun.

Ricky Roberts was a demolition derby driver as well as a volunteer police officer. Roberts competed in races in Pleasanton, Angels Camp, and Plymouth for nearly 30 years. In fact, he was a part of one of the Derby races that was telecast on ESPN.
When it comes to Ricky and Cheryl's relationship, they were romantically involved for a while before splitting up in 2012.

Cheryl was alleged to be fascinated with Ricky since she stalked him six months before he died. Ricky, in fact, had also reported the stalking.
Officials urged Lucero to bring her pistol in for examination after connecting the dots, but she declined and never brought it in. The officials then went through her storage unit and discovered handwritten wedding invitations, photos of Ricky, and bits of his clothing.
A jury was chosen after her arrest, and the trial began on August 8, 2015. Cheryl denied her charges during the trial, despite confessing to the detectives.

On September 4, 2015, a jury investigating the murder case convicted Lucero guilty of murdering Roberts. In addition, after serving at least 50 years of her sentence, she will be eligible for parole.
