He was concerned because her daughter did not return home till late, so he went alone to check on her, despite the fact that the family lived only six kilometres away. The ex-couple was discovered with life-threatening injuries inside the Huntingdon Ave residence.

Michelle, however, could not be salvaged; she had already died. Ben, on the other hand, was brought to the Royal Melbourne Hospital and is being monitored by authorities.
